iPhone Proposal in Movie Theater

I just saw this video on Mia Freedman's blog Mama Mia (check it out, it's a great blog) and I had to share it with all my WA Style readers as well. It is incredible and made me cry like a little girl. It's basically a proposal in the form of an iPhone ad as part of movie trailers.

Proposing via a movie trailer actually isn't as unusual as it sounds. A friend went to a screening of Twilight New Moon when it first opened her in Perth and one of the trailers was a proposal!

Perth Bride Expo this weekend

Calling all brides-to-be! This Sunday Perth Bride magazine will be holding the Perth Bride Exhibition at the Hyatt Regency Perth.

Running from 9.30am until 5pm on Sunday – entry is $15 including a free copy of a previous issue of Perth Bride.

I went to a lot of wedding expos while I was planning my wedding and they are handy, particularly in the early staging of planning when you’re not really sure what you want. You are sure to come away with a few ideas and maybe even one or two confirmed suppliers.

Until debt do we part?

According to a survey released by truebride.com.au the average West Australian wedding costs $29,794. This fact isn't quite as disturbing to me as their finding that many Aussie brides and grooms are putting themselves in deep debt to pay for their dream day.

I have to admit my wedding wasn't exactly a slap up BYO affair in a backyard, but it was a wedding my husband and I could afford quite comfortably. Had we not had the funds, we would have scaled back our plans.

According to True Bride, some couples take years to pay back their wedding debt and on average weddings run around 15% over budget with an average Aussie wedding budget looking like this:

Three months on from my wedding it still amazes me how much emphasis people place on the wedding day, isn't it the marriage that really matters? Now it's time to share your wedding story. I heart photo booths

Although my wedding was nearly two months ago now, I still get very excited when I see a great wedding idea.

In the early stages of planning the wedding I fell in love with the idea having a photo booth, I had grand visions of all our friends dressed up in top hats and feather boas posing away all night. It is a great way to get your guests up (and laughing) and it also means you can build up your own photo album of guest pictures.

Unfortunately for us it came down to issues of cost and time, so we didn’t go ahead with the idea (we hired a magician to entertain guests instead – which was a real hit!) but if you’d like to pinch the idea feel free.

New bridal shop for Subiaco

Over the coming months you will see plenty of wedding related posts from me on this site. Planning a wedding is a strange exercise, it is part wonderful and part terrifying. As someone with some experience in events, media and the wedding industry in general, I will do my best to share my pearls of wisdom as well as links to any great sites I have found, as I get closer to my own big day.
